I am so excited about the opportunity our chapter has been given! Your Board of Directors is working closely with Phil Stratton Director of Chapter Services to complete a chapter analysis to see what we are doing right & what we need to correct or start doing. This will be valuable information for us to grow to a new level. In the next few weeks each member company will be receiving a short survey with questions on how we can improve our chapter, what you would like to see us doing and any suggestions you may have. I encourage all of you to please take the time to give us your input. Every opinion is valuable to us no matter how small it may seem. If you like something or the job someone is doing say so, if you don’t like something or the job someone is doing say that as well, we need to know so we can improve. We can not give you, our members, what you want unless you tell us what it is you want!! Pine Avenue Fresno, CA 93727 559-294-9291 2006 Contractor of the Year Competition CALL FOR ENTRIES We are pleased to announce the 2006 NARI Central California chapter Contractor of the Year (CotY) awards program, and we invite all our members to participate. Only members of the Central California chapter of NARI are eligible to participate. Each entrant must be a member in good standing. However, if a contractor is not currently a chapter member, it is not too late to join and enter a project or two in the contest. All projects must have been completed between April 1, 2005 and August 31, 2006. This competition is modeled after the NARI National Contractor of the Year competition, but in no way is it a preliminary qualification for the National competition. Our local competition will be completed in time for entry into the Regional & National competitions. Every NARI member is encouraged to compete in the Regional & National competitions. JLC Live is coming to Anaheim CA It’s not to late to make your plans to attend the JLC Live convention in Anaheim. The pros from the Journal of Light Construction make their way to Southern California May 16-19, 2006 for another edition of JLC Live! This year's show will feature over 50 conference sessions, as well as valuable hands-on clinics and workshops. It's also a great place to test the latest products. Why not dedicate a few days to sharpen your skills? As the market cools off, those who have what it takes are the ones who get the job! While at the show be sure to stop by booth #857. Our chapter president, Jackie Trafton will be the featured person in the “Member Spotlight” section of the magazine. One reason they chose Jackie was because of her recent win of the “Local Chapter Presidents” award won in March at the Evening of Excellence Gala sponsored by NARI National. It’s an honor to have a local member selected to be spotlighted in the nationally distributed magazine. It just shows even as a small chapter, we can make a big impact in our industry. Be sure to keep an eye on the “Members Spotlight” section, you may see another familiar face in an upcoming issue?? NARI to Hold Family Fun Day NARI Central CA is planning its second annual family fun day for our members and their employees. It will be a wonderful way to spend the day with your family & friends and it will give you the opportunity to thank your employees for all their hard work. There will be many activities & games. A recent article published by The Better Business Bureau warns “spring time brings home improvement scams.” What better way to promote yourself & your commitment to ethical business practices than by using the NARI logo. This is the time of year when less-than-reputable or unqualified contractors breeze into town promising a variety of services at cut-rate prices. They may show up at your door, advertise in local papers or deliver fliers to your home. “There are thousands of reputable contractors who will deliver quality work, on time and within budget. Consumers can avoid costly mistakes and scams by doing some research before opening their wallets,” said Steve Cole, president and CEO of the Council of Better Business Bureaus.
